Moral Values in Economics One simple question for the president and his conservative co-conspiritors:
Why are massive tax cuts for the wealthy being preserved in the budget but heating oil for the poor and veterans' health care being reduced?
The president's tax cuts for the richest Americans constitutes fifty percent of the entire budget deficit. The cuts to social programs in the president's budget only make up 6 percent of the deficit.
At a time when the president is asking American soldiers and middle class taxpayers to sacrifice for the country, he is telling corporations and the wealthy that they owe nothing and have no obligation to the rest of America, or to the American people. Center for American Progress
The Moral Values of America's TRUE Religious community The following letter, signed by over 60 leaders from diverse faith communities across the nation, calls on Congress to examine the budget as an inherently moral document and offers six specific questions that should be asked to determine whether the budget's provisions are fair, just and promote the common good. The Federal Budget as a Moral Document: A Letter from Religious Leaders Read the letter and ask yourself if the Budget put together by George Bush and the Republicans is a budget put together by people with Moral Values.
