:: Vote 1:51 PM

I cast my vote this morning. Did you?

There was one referendum to borrow 101 million dollars for Waterbury schools, which I voted yes on. Waterbury schools are such crap that I doubt 101 million will even make a dent in the problem. The arts magnate school cost more than that, and it is just one school.

Then I voted no to a bunch of charter revisions I had never heard of, maybe Waterbury's charter needs to be revised, but the wording of the revisions left me thinking that they would give too much power to the mayor and take away power from the unions, and the voters.

Then I started down the list of political parties. Working families has two candidates. I pulled their levers first. Then I went to the Democrat line and clicked off the rest of the levers.

So, I must admit, John Kerry was not the first lever I pulled. He ranked after the Working Families party and 101 million for waterbury.

I did notice the Republicans, the Libertarians, and the Constitutional Party, and I made sure my hand didn't go anywhere near any of their candidates.

Yes, I voted with levers. I would have cast an absentee ballot if my voting area went to computers. Computers, and touch screen voting is the single most corruptible mechanism ever invented. The source code is patented, so no outside person knows what it is. Only the company that made the machines knows the code. That seems like a truly ignorant decision on the part of the politicians.

It should be open source, so each party, and all Americans can examine it to verify that it doesn't include any padding. Each touch screen should also generate receipts for each party in the election, plus the voter. And each one should be an isolated machine, and there should be a computer technician from each party to watch the code get loaded onto the machine.

The following code will add one percent to the r votes. (r%100?r++:r) And that small line of code can be buried anywhere in the thousands of lines of code which runs the touch screen program. Private companies running touch screen voting is stupid.
